A Better Life.

Did you ever type a search term or question into your web browser and as you were typing out the letters, the word or question you were searching for appeared? This happens because millions of people have asked the exact same question as you. Reflect on that for a moment. As individuals we are all unique, and yet the questions we ask, the things that we are searching for in this life are remarkably the same. So much so that search engines can predict our questions after analyzing the first two or three letters of our query.

Some might say that at the dawn of human history, the first search engine was the night sky. People have been looking up at the sky for time immemorial - asking questions, both great and small, wondering if there is more to life than the sum total of their lived experiences. A shooting star, a celestial body moving through the heavens, the moon keeping the tides in rhythm, and the sun giving light to the planet, in part, helped to answer their questions by revealing that there was a purpose and an order to life.  When human beings achieved the power of flight in the last century, they were finally able to explore outer space, but were ultimately left with more questions than answers. And yet they searched the very limits of their new environment to gain as much knowledge as they could.  As technology increased, the limits kept getting pushed back. Like the characters in our story, maybe one day we will be able to travel to distant planets as the Terrafirms did. Until then, we will search the limits of our own existence, examining why life is worth living.

As is unfortunately the case with any kind of exploration, a bad GPS reading, an inaccurate map, or a wrong question asked - can lead us away from our destination.  The Terrafirms(Many Beings) in our presentation started their journey on the right path, but by their disobedience, they lost their way entering the dark planetary system known as the Shadowlands.  Nearly every planet in the Shadowlands was appealing at first until the Terrafirms saw the planets for the nightmarish places they truly were.

Likewise, in our own search for meaning and fulfillment in life, we can enter into an experience or a change of direction that seems wonderful at first, only to later find out that we have strayed far from our intended path. Many of life’s so-called pleasures leave us feeling empty and broken.  Who will save us from our own black hole? An empty, swirling vortex of broken dreams and missed opportunities. We invite you to join us on a new journey of exploration and discovery as we SEARCH THE LIMITS.

Search the limits: From brokenness, find HEALING.

God wants you to be well, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. If your life is characterized by brokenness, know that God can bring much needed healing into your life.

O LORD, my God, I called to you for help and you healed me. Psalm 30:2

Search the limits: From pride, find HUMILITY.

Do you walk around feeling permanently offended by the words and actions of others? If left unchecked, pride can become a never-ending source of conflict. God desires that we live our lives in a spirit of quiet humility, putting the needs of others before our own.

Humble yourself before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10

Search the limits: From confusion, find PURPOSE.

Your life is not the result of random chance. You were created for a purpose that God wants to reveal to you. End the confusion now and ask God to share his purpose with you.

And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants. Jeremiah 32:39

Search the limits: from wrath, find PEACE.

Living with anger over hurts from the past negatively affects yourself and others. God gives his own spirit of peace to those who believe in him, putting out the fires of anger once and for all.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

Search the limits: from greed, find GENEROSITY.

Feel the need to always possess the latest and greatest stuff? The drive to own material possessions and consume things can be reflective of a greedy, striving heart. The love of money and material goods can result in an impoverished spirit. God can teach you how to give to others; if you put your trust in him, he will supply all your needs.

Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Proverbs 19:17

Search the limits: from control, find FREEDOM.

Though alcohol, drugs, and a multitude of other things offer the promise of enjoyment, in reality they enslave the human spirit and body. The things that you once used with control now do the controlling. God is the author of freedom. Only he can begin the process of setting you free.

The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17

Search the limits: from insecurity, find IDENTITY.

They say that the teenage years is a time for finding true identity, but in reality, people of all ages struggle to define themselves. So often people are content to let the changing whims of fashion and culture define who they are, without giving proper thought to the person God created them to be. Your identity, first and foremost, is rooted in God. When you start from there, it’s not hard to figure out the rest.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, that person is a new creation: the old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17

So what is the best and only way to experience true healing, humility, purpose, peace, generosity, freedom, and identity? To have a relationship with God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

Sin prevents you from having a perfect relationship with God. Jesus died for your sins. Acknowledging his death on the cross and his resurrection from the dead, is the only way to restore that relationship. Not restoring that relationship would be like the Terrafirms remaining in the Shadowlands forever - endless separation from God (hell). Saying, “Yes” to God, recognizing Jesus’ sacrifice for you, and asking God to come into your life have both a present and future impact. In the present, you are saved from your sin and your life is transformed. In the future, you go on to have a forever relationship with God that never ends (heaven). God’s plan to save you and transform your life is called SALVATION. It is a gift, generated totally from God’s loving self. When you accept God’s gift of Salvation through Jesus Christ, he gives you his Holy Spirit which enables you to live like Jesus did. Jesus lived a perfect life in an imperfect world.

So how do you accept God’s gift of SALVATION? It’s as easy as A-B-C.

Acknowledge that you are a sinner, separated from a Holy God.

Believe that there is nothing you can do to save yourself except to simply trust in Jesus Christ as your gift from God for eternal life.

Confess Jesus Christ as the Saviour and Lord of your life, accepting the free offer of salvation personally.

If you have never made the decision to receive God’s gift of forgiveness through Christ, or if you are unsure about it, you can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer. Prayer is simply talking with God. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as he is with the attitude of your heart. Pray this prayer right now to receive salvation.

“Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Forgive me of my sins. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen (or you could say, ‘Make it so!’).”
